Safety Program

Safety is an integral part of the Tankstar organization, which includes its various subsidiaries.  While we have long had a good foundation in place, we are constantly reviewing and updating safety policies, programs and training to ensure we present the most current safety information available to all.  One of the primary missions of the Safety Department is to raise the "safety consciousness" level.  Everyone must take an active role in safety, both in terms of ensuring individual safety and in the safety of those around him or her.

Training is the core of our Safety Program.  Tankstar uses a combination of methods and techniques for both initial and refresher training.  This combination consists of instructional as well as hands-on training, presentations administered by terminal or Safety Department personnel and, in some cases, guest speakers.  In the case of individuals new to Tankstar, this training is to be supplemented with one-on-one training with a driver trainer or other trainers until it is determined the new driver is sufficiently trained.  Furthermore, Tankstar has an established new hire driver validation center in Calvert City, KY.  These validation sessions are designed to measure the skills of drivers, ultimately to validate that a new driver has a complete understanding of the training that he or she has received.

While training provides a vital basis, other important components of our Safety Program are communication and recognition.  We attempt to keep safety in the forefront of everyone's mind.  One way we accomplish this is by constantly monitoring our performance in such areas as accidents, injuries, maintenance, Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance, and inspection and violation results.  This information is prepared and distributed to the field by the Safety Department.  In doing this, we hope to make everyone aware of the current trends faced in safety management.  Once the trends are understood, we are able to identify and recognize individual performance and performers as well as take proactive steps to correct potential problem areas.

Safety is an on-going concern.  We can never take Safety lightly.  We must continue to strive to stay on top of changes, provide the safest environment possible and instill in everyone a personal commitment to Safety.  Always keep in mind:

MAKE SAFETY EQUAL…TO EVERYTHING WE DO!

Tankstar and its subsidiaries are committed to running a safe, legal operation and to provide the safest work environment possible.  Everyone is encouraged to make a personal commitment to:

MAKE SAFETY EQUAL…TO EVERYTHING YOU DO!
